Ohio: Things to Do and See

  1. World's Largest Basket Building: Founded in 1973 by Dave Longaberger, his basket making business has grown to become what it is now, America's premier provider of high quality handcrafted baskets. To honor the company's core product, the founders decided to transform their entire office into the shape of a gigantic basket. A trip to Newark, Ohio would not be complete without several shots of the basket as well as a visit to their store. website
  2. Dayton Peace Museum: Founded in 2004, the Museum helps people of all ages learn nonviolent ways to achieve peace. Located in downtown Dayton, the Museum honors the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords that helped end violence in Bosnia. website

Cincinnati Zoo: The zoo hosts dozens of animal demonstrations and talks, as well as choice opportunities to feed giraffes, watch elephants bathe, and witness first-hand the grace of the cheetah’s bolt. As the second oldest zoo in the country (opened in 1875, second to the Philadelphia Zoo in 1874), the zoo has a long history of animal conservation and animal awareness initiatives, including Project Saving Species, a fund that channels money throughout the world to projects dedicated to animal welfare.   4. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum: From handwritten Jimi Hendrix lyrics to John Lennon's Sgt Pepper suit, and a pair of Ray Charles' sunglasses, the museum pays tribute to rock and roll's most legendary artists and producers in the form of 150,000 square feet of memorabilia.
